I am devoted to the sunrise

I am devoted to the sunrise
To the rays of light that cast themselves over everything, nudging each branch
Saying wake up, wake up!
I am devoted to the stick bugs
Their tiniest waves feeling like a Disney movie
I am devoted to the dew drops on rose petals
Pouring rain from a leaf onto my tongue
I am devoted to the rain
The way she cleanses the air, feeds the earth
I am devoted to the worms
And to the birds that eat them
I am devoted to the crows
Their patience, skepticism, their remembering
I am devoted to the ocean water running through the sand
Her gentle patterns painting pictures
I am devoted to the roots of trees that came before me
Their grounding and their rising
I am devoted to the wind
To the way she whips my hair, her fierce knowing
I am devoted to the soil
The host of darkness and of nutrients
I am devoted to my naked body
Her curves and blood and ocean tears
I am devoted to the nighttime
The silent stealth presence
I am devoted to the rugged bark and the brambles that catch in my clothing
Wanting to attach to me
I am devoted to the tree stumps, their death creating portals into other places
I am devoted to the quicksand, the tornado, the tsunami
The bringers of death and creators of life
I am devoted to the mountains
Their holding and seeing of all of earth
I am devoted to the stars
Sprinkling themselves across the sky
I am devoted to my place, here. The way my body reflects and absorbs everything around me. The way my fingerprints mirror the insides of trees and the way my hair is like wild oats
I will open to her. To the ground beneath my feet.
That love is all she has ever asked for
